Expand Your Business Opportunities
The NCAIED RES 2012 Procurement Pavilion will be offered as a value added opportunity for business attendees of the RES 2012 National Conference. The program matches small company “sellers” with participating “buyers”, represented by Federal agencies, major corporations and prime contractors. The sellers and the buyers will meet during a series of face-to-face meetings scheduled on March 1st during the annual RES conference. The RES 2012 Procurement Pavilion has limited space available and is therefore a first come, first serve event. Please, register early for this event to guarantee your company a position in this unique program. Registration is available through the RES 2012 overall event registration online at: http://res2012.biz.
How Does the RES 2012 Procurement Pavilion Work?
“Buyers” (Federal agencies, major corporations and prime contractors) and “Sellers” (business owners and managers) are matched for face-to-face appointments through the Procurement Pavilion’s “Matchmaking System”, a process conducted entirely online in advance of the event that provides precise appointment setting to ensure sellers are matched only with buyers who have expressed interest in their specific products and services.
Are There Any Pre-Requisites for Registration and Participation?
There are three key factors to participation in the RES 2012 Procurement Pavilion:
1. Registration for RES is available at http://res2012.biz.
-
You must be a paid registrant in RES 2012 to participate as a “Seller” in the Procurement Pavilion. Registration for RES is available at http://res2012.biz.
-
Government Agencies or Corporations who are interested in participating as “Buyers” in the Procurement Pavilion should email a request to georgew@uida.org with a CC to procurementpavilion@businessmatchmaking.com
2. Your business must possess a D-U-N-S Number. A D&B® D-U-N-S® Number is a unique nine-digit sequence recognized as the universal standard for identifying over 80 million businesses worldwide. The U.S. Government and many corporations require that their suppliers and contractors have a D-U-N-S Number. You may obtain a D-U-N-S Number at no charge by calling 1-866-705-5711 Monday through Friday 7 AM to 8 PM CST.
3. Your business must be registered with the Central Contractor Registry (CCR). The Central Contractor Registration (CCR) is the primary vendor database for the U.S. Federal Government. The CCR collects, validates, stores and disseminates data in support of agency acquisition missions. Both current and potential government vendors are required to register in CCR in order to do be awarded contracts by the government. Vendors are required to complete a one-time registration to provide basic information relevant to procurement and financial transactions. Vendors must update or renew their registration annually to maintain an active status. Visit www.ccr.gov for details and registration.
Now that I’m registered for RES 2012 and have selected to participate in the Procurement Pavilion what do I do?
If you have completed registration for the RES 2012 conference and/or trade show and selected participation in the Procurement Pavilion, you will receive an email from the Procurement Pavilion Registration Team with instructions to visit the Procurement Pavilion registration web site to enter keywords and other information regarding your company’s products and services. Because participation in the Procurement Pavilion is based on space availability, it is imperative that you respond to the email by completing your Procurement Pavilion registration as soon as possible. If you do not receive an email but have registered for RES 2012 and selected the Procurement Pavilion option, please email res@businessmatchmaking.com for assistance.
How do you match buyers and sellers?
Utilizing the United Nations Standard Products and Services Code® (UNSPSC®), small businesses are able to highlight their products and services. By entering keywords into our system, you will be provided matching UNSPSC codes. The Procurement Pavilion’s “Matchmaking system” then uses the codes as the basis of determining the buying organizations businesses appropriately match with in order to set appointments. It is up to each registered business to enter their keywords and codes order to set their appointment schedule before attending the event on March 1. Failure to complete your company’s Procurement Pavilion registration in the Matchmaking system will result in your position being given to another company for participation.
How Long Are the Procurement Pavilion Matchmaking Appointments?
Appointments are in 15-minute increments with a five-minute break in between each appointment. There will be three appointments per hour with a break for lunch.
How many appointments will I receive?
The number of appointments a small business receives will be based on how well your firm matches up to the product and service needs of the participating buyers. An initial appointment limit is set to allow everyone the greatest opportunity to schedule meetings. This number is then increased as we approach the event.Keep in mind: the more complete your seller profile, the higher the likelihood of making good matches.
Will registrations be accepted onsite during the conference?
Due to the preparation that will go into the individual attendance and participation in the program, onsite registrations will not be accepted.
Will Native American small businesses be awarded contracts during the Procurement Pavilion?
The RES 2012 Procurement Pavilion provides unique opportunities for Native American Small Businesses to meet with buyers who are motivated to award contracts and sub-contracts to smaller firms. While the program doesn't guarantee contracts, simply because of the nature of the normal bidding process between buyers and suppliers, it does create opportunities for small businesses to hold personal, one-on-one meetings with potential clients that would have taken weeks or months—if ever—to research and schedule on their own.
How many buyers are anticipated to attend? Which government agencies and corporations participate as buyers in the Procurement Pavilion?
144 Buyers representing 97 Buying Organizations participated in RES 2011. Some of the Federal agencies represented included the U.S. Department of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Interior, Homeland Security, and Energy. Attending corporations included Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, IBM, NBC Universal, and Walmart. For questions regarding the Procurement Pavilion, please email res@businessmatchmaking.com.
